The new fidget spinner toy created an unhealthy excitement around itself that did not occur even after the first Soviet tetris or Japanese tamagotchi appeared. The design of the device "to disgrace" is simple: a one-piece housing, a central bearing and "petals" on the sides. On sale, in addition to conventional fidgets, you can find musical and luminous models. Hand spinners quickly gained popularity and became leaders in sales. And then what happened?

Children and adolescents “abandoned” their smartphones and computer games away in order to compete, who knows how to twist spinners better. And not only in the hands, but also on the forehead or tip of the nose. For children, this is a fun toy, and adults use spinners to relieve stress. And everything was fine until the shocking shots appeared on YouTube that the spinner exploded in his hand.

# 1 Why spinners are dangerous?

Recently it became known that popular antistress toys explode and fly apart during rotation. As a confirmation, users post videos and videos on the Internet, which clearly show how the spinner exploded in their hands or scattered after another unsuccessful trick. There are also known cases when the fidgets light up while charging the built-in speakers and LED indicators.

But can a spinner really explode and cause harm? Only a few isolated cases have occurred, so judging objectively is still difficult. However, it is likely that similar problems may be characteristic of spinners with LED backlighting, batteries, and Bluetooth modules. The presence of electronics is always a potential risk to the user.

A simple fidget does not explode even at high speeds for the simple reason that there is nothing that can explode. But with improper use of the “turntable”, getting injured is quite possible. The media has already published several materials that warn that inept handling of a toy can cause a visit to a doctor. This was convinced by residents of the United States, as well as a man from Denmark, who decided to disperse the spinner with a stream of compressed air from a pneumatic gun, as a result of which smoke started, and then an explosion occurred.

# 2 Why is this happening?

If you spin the spinner with your hands, then nothing bad will happen. But many experimenters neglect safety rules and try to unwind the fidget to the limit, using any convenient means for this. At high speeds, a centrifugal force occurs, which leads to the displacement of the device from the axis of rotation. If the toy is made of low-quality materials, then the influence of centrifugal force can lead to deformation of the body of the product.

Plastic, wood or ceramic fragments fly apart at high speed and can injure the skin or damage soft surfaces. This is called an explosion conditionally - in fact, a spinner just scatters to pieces due to defects in the body and under the influence of centrifugal force. And the characteristic cotton that occurs at the time of the break creates pieces of material that “cut” the air. To avoid such problems, use the fidget as intended.
