Mice and rats accompany humans everywhere. They destroy products, crops in summer cottages and fields, carry viruses of severe infections and even bite signal wires in devices. Cats and traps can not cope with the invasion of rodents, and the use of poisons can poison our pets: dogs, cats. In addition, rodents after poisoning take to the streets and become easy prey for birds of prey that die from rat poison.
The most advanced way to destroy harmful animals is an electric trap.

Materials and Tools

Materials:
  • Chinese racket for fighting mosquitoes and flies (a powerful 12 V TBD G8 model was used);
  • 4 metal plates from cans (beer cans);
  • stranded copper wire in isolation (2 mm in diameter, up to 1 meter long);
  • a piece of plywood or durable cardboard measuring 20x40 cm;
  • empty clean pet can or 2.5 liter bottle.

Instruments:
  • thermal gun with an adhesive rod;
  • scissors;
  • electric drill.

Manufacturing process

First of all, we will prepare the base for our trap. On a plywood plate having a rectangular shape, we will drill 4 holes for the wires that will be connected to the conductive electrode plates.
We cut small rectangular plates of 4x10 cm in size from beer cans. We will hardly place them on our base. The distance between the plates should be 2 cm. Not far from the lower edge of each plate we pierce a hole.
We stretch the wires from below under the base and thread their ends into the holes in the board and electrode plate.

We connect the wire and the plate to twist. We connect the wiring from the plates so that the adjacent electrodes are of different polarity.
We draw a general conclusion of the negative and positive wires to the surface of the base (through a drilled hole).
We stick the electrode plates to the base with hot melt adhesive.

We take the TBD G8 insect racket and take out the entire electronic unit, but before that we close the electrodes to remove the existing charge.

Its dimensions are only 4x10 cm. The block consists of several parts. A step-up transformer increases the voltage hundreds of times. It increases even more in the doubler and enters the capacitor. We twist our 2 wires from the plates to the two wires of the block that went to the racket grids. The block can be glued to the base.

You can add another powerful capacitor for a couple of tens of thousands of microfarads. He joins in parallel. We turn on the unit and check the neighboring plates for a short circuit. Sparks are coming, everything works.

Take a plastic jar or empty plastic bottle of 2.5 liters. On the generatrix of the bottleā€™s cylinder, we cut out a plate a little wider than the length of our electrodes.

The resulting window closes the electrode field from above. In the middle of the bottle about 3 cm from the cut edge, we cut a round hole with a diameter of 3 cm, it serves to visit the trap by future victims. The cork of a bottle or jar must be closed.
Pour a handful of any grain or groats inside the bottle, turn on the device and begin the hunt for mice and rats. The installation is autonomous, it can be placed in garages, sheds and other utility rooms.

What is a good bottle? It can be immediately dismantled and thrown into the trash along with the killed mice. A new bottle is mounted in a minute.
