Simple design of wire cutting machine

From scraps of metal you can make a simple machine, with which you can easily and quickly chop wire of different diameters, including thin steel bars of round or square cross-section. Such a homemade device is useful in the home workshop and garage.

The main stages of work

From a piece of metal we cut a rectangular plate, at the end of which it is necessary to cut the teeth with a grinder. Then we cut another plate and also cut the teeth on it, but already on the side. We cut off all the excess, and then we process these two workpieces on an emery or grinding machine.

Next, we cut out two more rectangular plates from a piece of metal 2-3 cm thick, in which we drill one hole at the end for fastening the gear parts - they will be joined to each other by the principle of connecting gears.

Also in the plates with the help of a grinder, you will need to make two wedge-shaped cutouts, and on one of them grind the side edge. After machining, the plates need to be hardened - for this we heat them red-hot in the furnace or with a gas burner, and then immerse them in a container with oil.

Now that the basic elements of the machine are ready, you can start assembling the entire structure. Two plates are welded to the base, and between them, with the help of bolts and nuts, movable parts with teeth must be fixed. The handle can be made from a round pipe.
