If desired, a conventional mechanical piston pump for inflating automobile tires can be converted into an electric one using a power drill or cordless screwdriver as a drive.

This is a budget option for those who do not want to overpay for the purchase of a compressor. With the help of a simple home-made device, you can quickly pump up bicycle, as well as motorcycle / car tires. How often do Kulibin masters like to say: "cheap and cheerful!"

The main stages of work

First of all, wooden boards need to be knocked together to form a rectangular base on which a piston pump and an electric drill will be placed. Boards from the old pallet are perfect for this.

You will also need to make a wooden vertical stand for fixing the "neck" of an electric drill and a drive pulley that connects directly to the piston tube using an angle with a bolt and is inserted into the electric drill cartridge.

Home-made piston electric pump for a car works on the principle of reciprocating movements. When you turn on the electric drill, a wooden pulley starts to rotate (you can make an aluminum one), which drives the piston of the pump. This is how the wheel chamber is inflated.

This version of a home-made electric piston pump for inflation of tires of a car or a bicycle can be called primitive, however, you can always refine it if you wish. For a detailed process of manufacturing and assembling an electric pump, see this video.
