From empty glass bottles (for example, from wine, whiskey, champagne, etc.), you can make different decorative ornaments and crafts for your home with your own hands: lampshades for lamps, original candlesticks, and much more (there are a lot of ideas for decor).

However, the bottles will first have to be cut off evenly, since some crafts require a lower part with a bottom, and for others, an upper part with a neck is required. And just for cutting glass bottles at home, you can use a mini machine.

The design of the device is very simple, without "bells and whistles" - if you wish, everyone can repeat it. However, in this case, despite all the simplicity, with the help of such a simple device, you can make even, almost perfect cuts.

Earlier, we already published reviews of homemade bottle cutters on the site, but in this article we bring to your attention the idea of making one of the most successful and universal devices, in our opinion. If you are interested in how to make it, read on.

The main stages of work

The frame of a homemade mini machine for cutting glass bottles can be made of plexiglass or plywood with a thickness of about 10-12 mm. You will also need a conventional roller glass cutter, an M10 threaded rod and wing nuts.

Using an electric jigsaw, it will be necessary to cut out the main parts for making home-made from plexiglass (or plywood).

In order not to make markings on the blanks, it is very convenient to use ready-made paper stencils for this. Then in the cut out parts from plexiglass we already drill holes for studs and bolts.

In the next step, you will need to tighten the frame parts with bolts. All irregularities can be removed using a manual polisher or grinder.

You can also use a grinder with a petal or peeling disc. Alternatively, the edges can be aligned with a planer, but in this case there is a possibility that chips will form on the surface of the plexiglass when machined.

Mini machine assembly

After the main frame parts are ready, and all the holes are drilled, you can proceed to the assembly of the device - we tighten the parts with bolts and studs with nuts. To speed up the process, you can use a screwdriver.

To fix the glass cutter itself (you must first remove the handle), you need to drill two holes in it. You will also need to drill holes in the frame itself. Please note that the glass cutter roller should protrude above the edge of the plexiglass by about 3-4 mm.
