In this review, the author shows how to make a hydraulic self-acting pump with your own hands. The site already had a similar design, but made of plastic pipes - you can read more here.

Using a self-acting hydraulic pump, water can be supplied from a river, spring or waterfall without the use of an electric motor.

For the manufacture of a hydraulic self-acting pump, water fittings, brass valves, polyethylene pipes, an empty fire extinguisher will be required (the master uses it as an air cap).

The principle of operation of the hydraulic pump

Water from a stream or spring flows through the drive pipe and drain valve and slams it. The resulting water hammer causes water to rise through the second valve under the air cap.

When the pressure is equalized, the second valve closes, and now the compressed air in the air cap (expansion tank) causes the water to rise through a tube of a smaller diameter.

Pump specifications

A self-acting hydraulic pump (specifically this design) is notable for good performance: it pumps 1.5 liters in 40 seconds, which is 3240 liters per day.

The maximum height of water rise from the pump level is 4 meters, the hose length is 80 meters.
