For the manufacture of this device you will need wooden slats, two metal brackets, steel bushings 6x30 mm, as well as wood screws: 4x12 mm and 3x20 mm. As you already understood from the name, this home-made wooden template is designed for drilling precise holes in wooden blanks for dowel connection.

It is necessary to saw off two wooden blocks with a length of 15 cm from a wooden battens, in which at the edges, departing about 1-2 cm, you will need to drill one hole. We connect the bars using steel plate brackets using self-tapping screws. Please note that the resulting part must be movable.

Next, we saw off two more bars from the wooden battens: one long, in which you need to drill two holes at the edges, and the other short - glue them together. Then, in the resulting blank, you need to drill two more holes in the center and make a cut on the band saw. Two metal bushings 6x30 mm are inserted into the central holes.

Build a homemade template

Two square parts are cut from the rail, which are attached to the brackets. Then to them, but on the other hand, it is necessary to fasten the second part of the device. The tool is now ready for use. We take the workpiece, attach a template to it, fix it, and then drill holes through the guide bushings using a drill.

Thus, perfectly smooth and precise holes are obtained for the dowel connection of wooden parts. The detailed process of manufacturing and assembling a wooden template can be seen in the video on the website.
