When applying wood glue to the end parts of wooden billets, it is not always possible to do this carefully, as a result of which the glue is smeared and it is necessary to return to the “bare” area again. When you need to glue a small number of blanks, you can just close your eyes to this. However, with large volumes of work, this is time-consuming and even annoying.
To evenly apply glue to the end face of the workpiece and not to stain the sides at the same time, you can make a simple device that is worn directly on the bottle with glue. For this homemade product you will need a piece of plastic pipe of suitable diameter, a washer made of plastic, two bolts, as well as a heat shrink tube.
Homemade manufacturing process
It is necessary to cut a small piece from the plastic pipe, which will be worn on the "neck" of the bottle with glue. If you can’t put the pipe “on the cold”, we warm it up a little with a construction hairdryer, and then put it on. We measure out a piece of the desired width and saw it off with a hacksaw for metal.
We cut off the burrs with a clerical knife, and then we process the ends with fine sandpaper. Next, we cut the washer out of plastic, which must be glued to the pipe segment, after preliminary processing the edges with sandpaper. Then, in the plastic washer, two holes must be drilled for the bolts. For reliability, the bolts themselves are fixed with glue.
Then we put a heat-shrink tube on the studs, heat them with a hairdryer or a lighter, after which the homemade product is completely ready for use. We fasten it to a bottle with glue and now, smearing the ends of the wooden blanks, you will not spill a single drop by, as the bolts act as limiters.
