On the Internet you can find many options for the restoration of axes - from the simplest to the most unusual. In this article, we will look at how you can remake an old Soviet ax using an unconventional approach and far from non-classical forms. The result will be a very unusual and original ax that will adorn the interior of a workshop or garage. Well, let's get down to business?

Ax restoration: work stages

First of all, we clean the surface of the ax from old paint and traces of metal corrosion. Then, using a marker and a square, we mark in the form of longitudinal and transverse lines, and cut the ax along the contours with a grinder. After that, the resulting "steps" on the edges of the ax are processed with a file.

After machining, the surface of the ax is polished to a mirror. Please note that since welding is not used during the restoration of the ax, steelwork is not required to be made (and, accordingly, the hardening process can be safely skipped). Instead, we proceed to decorate the hatchet so that it matches the style of the ax.

At the last stage of work, we plant an ax on a wooden hatchet, after making a longitudinal slot, and wedge it with a wedge. The end result was a very cool ax that would not be embarrassing to show to friends. Well and most importantly - such an exclusive thing you can do yourself without any problems. It would be a desire, as they say.
