For gluing wooden boards, weights or presses are usually used, which clamp the boards in two planes. However, not everyone has such devices in the workshop. Therefore, you can use an alternative method - fasten boards with homemade metal staples, which are clogged at the ends, and after gluing are removed.

How to glue boards together with brackets

First you need to make the brackets themselves, which will be used to fasten the boards - for this, using a grinder, cut out U-shaped parts from sheet metal or a piece of channel. The ends must be grinded to a cone or trimmed so that in the end a "leg" of a triangular shape is obtained. Or you can just cut them at an angle.

Then we prepare two boards for gluing - we grind the front surface and process the edge with a planer. We apply glue, after which we join two boards together. Then at the end of two boards on each side we hammer one bracket. As they deepen, the staples pull the boards together tightly enough.

After the glue dries, the staples are removed. It should be noted that in this way it is possible to glue wooden boards with a width of not more than 1 meter. Of course, this method cannot be called ideal, but it can be used if you need to glue small boards, and there is no wime or press at hand. How to apply this method in practice, see this video.
