Using a reamer scriber (or reysmus), you can draw straight marking lines that run parallel to the edge on metal, wood and other hard surfaces. This article will focus on the independent manufacture of such a tool for working on metal. Although it is suitable for marking other materials.

To make a reamer scriber with your own hands, you will need a grinder, a bench vise, a tap, a lathe, a welding machine, a cylindrical billet, a steel "pancake", a rod, screws and a metal rod.

The first step is to weld the cylinder to the pancake. Then we process it on a lathe. In the center of the elongated part of the part, we drill a through hole. Next, we move on to the next stage of work.

The process of making a reamer scriber

We will prepare a metal rod, process it on a lathe, and then make a longitudinal hole in it from one end. And through it - the transverse. We check: we insert the rod into the first part, it should move relatively freely in the drilled hole.

We cut the internal thread in the longitudinal hole of the screw rod. In the elongated cylinder of the first part, we drill a side hole and also cut the thread in it. A screw with a wing will be screwed into this hole.

To make a reamer-scriber cutter, we will use a fragment of a metal drill. Sharpen it and fix it with a screw in the transverse hole of the rod. Done, assemble the entire structure.

Moving the rod, adjust the width of the marked product. The cutter can also be adjusted in height. Now there is no need to "pull the strings", look for long rulers. The marking is carried out instantly and accurately!
