Sometimes a manual clamp-pliers (they are metalwork or as they are often called - welding pliers) can not cope with certain tasks.
For example, a standard clamp is not able to fix a workpiece or part located at a certain distance from the edge of the table.
In this case, it will not be difficult to expand its functionality. We will not reinvent the wheel - just lengthen the clamping jaws.
And for this, an asterisk from a motorcycle is just useful to us - some old or rusty one that lies idle in a workshop or garage.
The main stages of work
First of all, we arm ourselves with a grinder with a cutting wheel and cut out the “core” from the asterisk.
Then we cut off the side parts from this “core” - they will be used to make a manual clamp.
However, not only them. Arc with cloves, which were cut off at the very beginning, also come in handy.
In one of them it is necessary to drill a hole. Then with the help of a bolt we fix two sidewalls from the "core". What happened, we weld to a metal plate.
We cut off the excess part of the strip - as a result, we got a clamping sponge.
To the second half of the sprocket, you also need to weld a sponge from a strip of metal, but already smaller. And then we weld the “extensions” to the clamp-pincers.
