Although the technique itself is not particularly complex, it requires a taste and some artistic skills. Therefore, if you are faced with this kind of work for the first time, you will have to practice a bit.

In this review, the author shows a method using Venetian plaster. And for starters, a little theory - it won’t hinder the beginners.

Venetian plaster is a ready-made composition, which in its structure resembles putty.

But unlike ordinary putty, Venetian plaster has interesting and unique properties, such as partial transparency.

Venetian plaster can be bought in the desired color or tinted by yourself. For tinting, you can use acrylic paint or tinting paste.

Also, this material can be slightly diluted with water - the Venetian plaster retains all the properties.

The main stages of work

Using Venetian plaster and tinting the desired colors, the author makes three basic shades: white, dark gray and pale brown.

Before creating any marble pattern, it is advisable to have a picture with the image of real marble on hand. But you can also improvise.

We put several colors on the spatula or trowel at the same time, and for one broach you need to try to apply the drawing along the desired path.

When broaching, the colors mix, and we get an interesting pattern that looks like a marble pattern.

In the same way, the entire surface is sequentially filled.

Please note that if the drawing does not stretch as beautifully as you would like, then you can safely wear other colors on top of it and adjust the color or direction of the drawing.

The most important thing when applying any color - the plaster must be stretched to the seam, in very thin layers, so that the surface remains smooth.

This is necessary so that when polished the surface evenly becomes glossy.

The final touch - and you're done

At the next stage, with the help of a brush, the author draws veins on the surface of the "marble". They can be either thick or thin.

Then we take a trowel or putty knife, and at an angle of about 30-40 degrees, we begin to rub the surface, compacting it. And thus, the "marble" will acquire a beautiful glossy shade.

With the usual putty, such a "trick" will not work - only with the Venetian. For details on how to make the texture of marble on the surface, see the video on our website.
