Hidden magnets hatch in bath screen

In this review, the author shows how to make a hidden hatch in the bathroom screen, which is made of ceramic tile and a piece of plywood.

In this case, a hydromassage bathtub and no purchased hatches fit there. And so I had to make a hidden hatch with my own hands.

Since the bathtub is hydromassage, when it is turned on, vibrations will inevitably occur, and you need to make the hatch in such a way that it does not open independently.

Therefore, in this case, the author decided to use strong neodymium magnets that can withstand such a load.

Also, for additional damping of the vibration, it will be necessary to make a silicone seam around the entire perimeter of the bathtub, as well as the screen.

Mounting Features

The entire screen under the bathroom is made of moisture-proof plywood, and the removable part is no exception.

The hatch on the magnets is pretty confident. In total, for one hatch, the author used four neodymium magnets. And this amount is enough.

To make it convenient to open the hatch, the author decided to make two technical slots in the tile, which repeat the main drawing.

It should be noted that these slots serve not only as a “handle” in order to open the hatch, but also perform the function of ventilation.

And thus, no mold will form directly under the bath. In order for the hatch to be truly invisible, silicone grout should be made around the perimeter.

And note that in this case, the bathtub frame is made almost flush with the main frame.
