I like things that simplify and make life easier. This device will help the welder and save him from unnecessary actions. It will be about how to make a magnetic mass contact for the welder from the usual unnecessary speaker. I’ll tell you more in detail ...
Usually, to attach a common wire - mass to the metals being welded, use a clamp. Such a connection does not always give a tight and reliable contact, and there are times when it is not very convenient. With the help of magnetic contact it is possible in one motion to obtain a strong and reliable connection of a large cross section, bearing in mind a good touch area.
Will need
- Dynamic head, naturally idle.
- Hairpin
- Cheburashka nut.
- Washers
Making the magnetic contact of the welding cable
We disassemble the speaker, or rather disconnect the magnet. To do this, knock down the rivets. To do this, you can clamp the dynamic head in a lathe and bore. Or simply drill with a conventional drill. In general, it is not difficult.
And the magnet moves away without problems.
In my case, the core moved away almost by itself.
If it also doesn’t work out for you, then heat it with a gas burner and pop it with a screwdriver.
Take a piece of hairpin 8-10 cm long and try it on to the core. It will be fixed like this.
Drill from the back. The hole is not through, but about 80% of the total length.
Clamp in a vice and cut the thread under the hairpin.
We put two nuts on the hairpin and tighten them together.
And now we screw this improvised bolt into the core to the maximum, you no longer have to turn it out.
Now we twist the nuts.
In order not to lay the wire directly on the base, first we put on a small sleeve, and then a washer. Next is the welding wire.
We fix the washer and the wing-type nut on top.
Pay attention to the large area of the attached contact.
Now we put the magnet together.
For proper retention, you can put everything on glue or epoxy.
Magnetic contact is ready. We are trying to weld. Put on the sheet.
The clamping force is very good.
Welding is without red tape. Sparks do not fly out from under the pressure point, everything is perfectly fixed.
